In 1939, the late Michael Lucas opened a funeral home at Greensboro, Pennsylvania in a home across from the present Greensboro and Monongahela Township Volunteer Fire Company. He operated the business at the Greensboro location until 1945 when he moved to the present location in Carmichaels. The photograph to the right was taken in June of 1963.
Mr. Lucas later opened a branch funeral home in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania and operated both funeral homes with his son, Michael John Lucas until 1985.
On August 15, 1985, Martin and Janice Yoskovich purchased both funeral homes from Michael Lucas. The Mount Morris location was remodeled in the early 1990's and was sold to Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. in 1996.
In the Fall of 2000, the Carmichaels funeral home underwent a major renovation that included the addition of a new hallway and visitation room. Both porches and entrances to the building were modified to allow for full handicap accessiblity to the funeral home level. A full size chapel was furnished for services and the coffee lounge and sitting rooms where refurbished. In the Spring of 2001, the front garden was planted and the exterior of the funeral home was repainted.
Aaron S. Walker of Carmichaels joined our staff as a licensed Funeral Director in May of 2007. The Yoskovich Funeral Home continues to operate as a full service family owned independent funeral home providing pre-need and at-need funeral planning, monuments and markers.
