Martin J. Yoskovich was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised from infancy in Nicholson Township near Masontown, Pennsylvania, the son of Martin Yoskovich of Masontown and the late Cecelia (Cihon) Yoskovich. He graduated from the former AlbertGallatinHigh School at Friendship Hill in New Geneva, Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and sociology from Washington and JeffersonCollege in Washington, Pennsylvania.During his junior and senior years at Washington and Jefferson, Marty resided and worked at the former Richard H. Piatt Funeral Home on East Wheeling Street in Washington.
Shortly before graduation from W & JCollege, Richard H. Piatt purchased the Stewart F. Barnhill Funeral Home in Washington. Seeing a need for additional staff at the new funeral home, Marty obtained employment from Mr. Piatt and subsequently attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.Upon graduation, he completed his resident internship at Piatt and Barnhill and began working as a licensed Funeral Director.
On August 15, 1985, Marty and his wife, Janice (Patton) moved to Carmichaels to purchase the Michael Lucas Funeral Homes in Carmichaels and Mount Morris, Pennsylvania.The couple operated both homes until 1996,when the MountMorris funeral home was sold to the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Marty and his wife, Janice, continue to own and operate the Yoskovich Funeral Home in Carmichaels and are proud to announce that Aaron S. Walker was hired in May of 2007 as a full time Funeral Director.
AARON S. WALKER, F. D.
Aaron S. Walker was born and raised in Fayetteville, West Virginia, the son of Karon Workman of Fayetteville and Robert Walker of Oak Hill, West Virginia. While growing up in West Virginia, Aaron was very active with the local Boy Scouts of America Troop 175 and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow, the Fayetteville Fire Department and the LoversLeapBaptistChurch in Ansted, West Virginia.
In 1994 Aaron graduated from Fayetteville High School and, in that same year, began working for Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home and Wallace Memorial Cemetery which began his career in funeral service. Later that year, he attended Alderson-BroaddusCollege in Phillipi, West Virginia to pursue a degree in music education with an emphasis in vocal studies.Aaron remained at Alderson-Broaddus for two years before deciding to pursue a new avenue.
In 1996 he enrolled at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and obtained his degree in September of 1998.Since then, Aaron has maintained his West Virginia and Pennsylvania Funeral Director licenses and worked locally for the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc. in Jefferson and Waynesburg, Pennsylvania and the Greenlee Funeral Homes in Beallsville, Bentleyville and Fredericktown, Pennsylvania. In May of 2007, he joined the staff of Yoskovich Funeral Home.
Currently Aaron resides in Carmichaels and cherishes spending time with his wife, Joanna (Modrick) Walker, and their three children, Bradley Edward Walker, Brookelynn Erin Walker and Brenna Elise Walker.He is a member of the FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Carmichaels, is an active member of the Carmichaels and Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Company and enjoys woodworking and playing golf in his spare time.
Aaron is very excited to be working for the Yoskovich Funeral Home and looks forward to becoming an active member of the Carmichaels and surrounding communities.
