James M. Basiorka

James M. Basiorka, 69 of Dyer, Ind. and formerly of Dilliner, Pa. died Wednesday morning, October 15, 2008 in The Community Hospital in Munster, Ind. He was born January 10, 1939 in New Kensington, Pa. a son of Margaret Elizabeth (Barber) Basiorka of Pt. Marion, Pa. and the late James Michael Basiorka. Mr. Basiorka was a 1956 graduate of Mapletown High School and attended Waynesburg College. He had resided in Dyer since 1970 and owned and operated Hammond-Calumet Tire Service in Hammond, Ind. for 35 years. Mr. Basiorka served in the U. S. Army Reserves and was past president of his local Lions Club. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring antique cars. Mr. Basiorka was a member of St. John Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in St. John, Ind. On August 17, 1963, he married Loretta L. Richards, who survives with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are two sons, Darryl J. Basiorka of Florida and Lance M. Basiorka and his wife, Laura of Hinsdale, Ill.; three daughters, Laura L. Renta and her husband, Ron of Jacksonville, Fla., Colleen E. Bergey of York, Pa. and Kristina L. Johnson and her husband, Daniel of Renton, Wash.; four grandchildren, Lauren, Damien, Tony and Jacob; a brother Dennis J. Basiorka and his wife, Mary Jane of Carmichaels, Pa. and two sisters, Loretta Johnson and her husband, John of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Brenda Pekar and her husband, Richard of Dilliner. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcomed from 5 to 8 P.M. Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 20, 2008, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 A.M. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, Pa., with Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.
