Philip A. Donaldson, 79, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 1:20 A.M. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born September 23, 1932 in Fairmont, W. Va., a son of the late Forney and Mary (Hayhurst) Donaldson. Mr. Donaldson served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired as a lock man for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. After his retirement, he served as the zoning officer for Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pa. for several years. Mr. Donaldson was a member of the International City Lodge No. 389, F. & A. M. of Long Beach, Cal.; the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Pittsburgh. In addition, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and the Disabled American Veterans Post 123. On June 23, 1956, he married Arleen Haught, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Raianna Murphy and her husband, Bruce, of Carmichaels, Cheryl Donaldson and her husband, Tim Sleasman, of Rices Landing, Pa., Rhonda Donaldson of Goodwell, Okla., Scott Donaldson and his wife, Beverly, of Carmichaels and Tracey Mayfield and her husband, Brian, of Carmichaels; nine grandchildren, Michael Donaldson, Adam Donaldson, Brandy Donaldson, Sarah Donaldson, Ryan Mayfield, Jeremy Mayfield, Nathan Mayfield, Matthew Sleasman and Jordan Sleasman; a brother, Tom Donaldson and his wife, Sally, of Fairmont, W. Va. and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Donaldson of Fairmont and Mildred Donaldson of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Deceased are a son, David Allen Donaldson; a grandson, Travis Murphy; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Donaldson and William "Bill" Donaldson and a sister and her husband, Ruth and Les Hendrickson Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life visitation from 2 to 6:30 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. followed by Masonic Services at 6:30 P.M. by Valley Lodge No. 459, F. & A. M. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, March 19, 2012 in the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce R. Judy officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., N. W., Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
