Anthony R. Guley, Sr.

Anthony R. Guley, Sr., 88 of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 12:07 A.M. on Friday, September 21, 2007 at Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born April 6, 1919 in Brownfield, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Joseph Andrew and Ann (Hicshar) Guley. Mr. Guley was a 1937 graduate of Cumberland Township High School and a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church of Carmichaels. He served in the U. S. Army in the European Theater during World War II and retired from the Nemacolin Mine in 1982. His wife, Helen (Christy) Guley, died January 24, 2001. Surviving are a son, Anthony R. Guley, Jr. and his wife, Lesa of Washington, Pa.; a daughter, Pamela R. Schifko and her husband, William of Carmichaels; two grandchildren, Joseph and Andrew Guley; a brother, Albert Guley of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Joan Costello of Connellsville, Pa. and several nieces and nephews including Dominic Christy of Carmichaels. Deceased are a brother, Edward Guley and two sisters, Hazel Robinson and Helen Orlosky. There was no public viewing and a Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels. Entombment took place at the mausoleum at Greene County Memorial Park. Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 accorded military honors at the cemetery.
