William J. "Woody" Bell, 83, of Dilliner, Pa., died at 7:25 A.M. on Friday, August 4, 2006 at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. after a brief illness. He was born February 23, 1923 in Poland Mines, Monongahela Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late James E. and Myrtle Hager Bell. Mr. Bell resided his entire life in Poland Mines and served with the U. S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He retired after 40 years of service in 1988 from John P. Sorice Trucking of Washington, Pa. Mr. Bell enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football. On November 9, 1946, he married Ellen Celli who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Marie C. Babb and her husband, Ronald of Dilliner, Mary E. Morgan and her husband, Marshall of Morgantown, Rose A. Brown and her husband, Harry Marvin of Dilliner and Candy B. Barnhart and her husband, Duncan of Carmichaels, Pa.; five grandchildren, Eric Brown, Ronald Babb, Jr., Lori Guesman, Bobbie Joe Brown and Paige Barnhart; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Richards of Waynesburg, Pa., Bertha Howard of Greensboro, Pa. and Pauline Metcalf of Bobtown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Thomas, Robert, James and Archie Bell. Family and friends are welcomed from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, Pa. and from Noon until 1:00 P.M., the hour of service on Monday, August 7, 2006 with the Rev. Joe Eicholtz officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. The chaplain's military committal service will be conducted at the graveside by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and V. F. W. Post 3491.
