Clair E. Daugherty

Clair E. Daugherty, 85 of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 2:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born January 10, 1923 in Monongahela Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Emily (Crouch) Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty was a Methodist and worked as a laborer on the railroad in his early life. He later worked for the former Daugherty Coal Company in Finleyville, Pa. and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in 1985. He was an avid hunter in his younger years and was a friend to many. Mr. Daugherty enjoyed reading and was fascinated with meteorology. Surviving are three nieces, Kathleen S. Kisner, his caretaker, of Carmichaels, Beverly S. McCann of Turtle Creek, Pa. and Melva S. Sawyer of Monongahela, Pa.; a nephew, Dale E. Brezovsky of Waynesburg, Pa. and several great nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Melvin Daugherty and two sisters, Betty M. Brezovsky and Emily Shiflet. Funeral arrangements are private and interment will take place in Beallsville Cemetery, Beallsville, Pa.
