Connie M. Lavins, 72, of Rices Landing, Pa., died at 1:13 P.M. on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. after a brief illness. She was born April 8, 1935 in Jefferson Township, Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late George Thomas and Beulah Sylvia (Antill) Nutt. Mrs. Lavins resided in the Rices Landing area most of her life and had attended the Rices Landing United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, poetry, doll and antique collecting and selling collectibles at flea markets. Mrs. Lavins cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was especially fond of her dog, Petey. On April 1, 1950, she married William H. Lavins, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Cindy Bailey and Billie Jean Kovalcheck, both of Carmichaels, Pa., Melanie Miller and her husband, Randy of Rices Landing and Jennifer Lavins of Carmichaels; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Sam, Michelle, Noah, Ana, Sarah, Courtney, Skylar, Owen, Caspian, Kai and Liam; five great grandchildren; a brother, George T. Nutt and his wife, Peggy of Jefferson; a sister, Judith Lanum and her husband, Gene of Casanova, Vir. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Brenda Nesbitt, who died November 6, 1996 and two grandchildren, Casey Nesbitt and Odessa Lavins. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 25, 2008. The Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate.
