Helen I. Zuzik Smalsky, 86 of Carmichaels, Pa., died Friday morning, December 22, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Kathy A. Olszewski in Crucible, Pa. She was born December 23, 1919 in Braddock, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Mary (Kohan) Zuzik. Mrs. Smalsky was a 1939 graduate of German Township High School and resided in Carmichaels most of her life where she was a member of the St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and cherished the company of her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Smalsky was a friend to many. On May 26, 1946, she married Edward P. "Duke" Smalsky, who died March 13, 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara S. Gump and her husband, Jesse of Kings Mills, Ohio and Kathy A. Olszewski and her husband, Ed of Crucible; three grandchildren, Nicholas B. Gump, Krista Young and her husband, Mike and Casey Olszewski; two great grandchildren, Nicholas B. Gump, Jr. and Shannon E. Gump; a sister, Pauline Vetrini of Bethel Park, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Gloria Hart of Dilliner, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, John, Mike, Joe and Robert Zuzik and a sister, Mary Smith. Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 P.M. on Saturday and Noon to 2 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, Pa. There will be no visitation on Christmas day. Additional visitation will take place from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., the time of a blessing service on Tuesday, December 26, 2006, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 A.M. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. A vigil service will be held at Noon on Sunday in the funeral home.
