Hester H. Porter

Hester H. Porter, 95 of Carmichaels, Pa., and formerly of Washington, Pa. and Green Valley, Ariz., died at 4:57 P.M. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Washington Hospital. She was born December 27, 1912 in Carmichaels, a daughter of the late Furman W. and Edith (Neil) Hickman. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels and a charter member of the Greene Academy of Art Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Carmichaels Women's Civic Club for over 50 years and a member of O. E. S. Chapter No. 263 of Uniontown, Pa. for over 50 years. Her husband, Frank R. Porter died September 24, 1997. Surviving are four grandchildren, Suzanne Powers and her husband, Joseph, Cheryl Pitzer and her husband, Ronald, Donna McCallum and Frank R. Porter; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Porter Callahan of Washington, D. C. Deceased are a son, Frank R. Porter, II; a daughter, Elizabeth Sue Porter; a granddaughter, Renee Porter, a brother, C. Ray Neil; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Paula Lorinchack and a brother-in-law, Laughlin Callahan. There will be no public viewing and all arrangements are private. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 363, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
