Loretta M. Burch, 96, of Carmichaels, Pa. died Sunday, May 11, 2008 in the Assisted Living at Evergreen, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born August 22, 1911 in Brownsville, Pa., a daughter of the late Patrick A. and Mayme (Campbell) McGinty. Mrs. Burch was a 1929 graduate of South Brownsville High School and a graduate of California Normal School (California University of Pennsylvania). She resided in Carmichaels since 1948 where she was a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church. In the Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher and president of the Women's Association. Before the Church became affiliated with Presbyterian Church in America, Mrs. Burch served as a trustee during the time of the merger of the area Presbyterian churches. Mrs. Burch taught at Brownsville Township Elementary School, Luzerne Township Elementary School and Carmichaels Area Elementary and Junior High Schools. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the National Educational Association and the A. A. R. P. Mrs. Burch was a past president of the Town and Country Garden Club and the Business and Professional Women. She served on the site counsel as secretary of the Carmichaels Senior Center and as the news reporter for the Senior Times since 1977. Mrs. Burch composed and edited the Carmichaels Lions Club bulletin for over 20 years and was a Meals on Wheels provider for a number of years. Her husband, Loman Russell Burch, died August 24, 1960. Surviving are a son, Kenneth P. Burch and his wife, Dianne of Catonsville, Md.; two grandsons, Jason L. Burch and his wife, Ann Wallace and Todd D. Burch and his wife, Chantha; four great grandchildren, Molly, Abigail, Camille and Emilie; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Burch of Carmichaels and special friends, Ed and Becky Chess and their family. Deceased is a son, Ronald L. Burch, a brother, James L. McGinty and a sister, Ethel McGinty. Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday and 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 in the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 East Greene Street, Carmichaels. The Revs. P. Keith Larson and Harold O. Kelley will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
