Bernard A. Markulik 71, of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Parma, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Monday evening, July 3, 2006 at Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born December 24, 1934 in Wyano, Pa., a son of the late Michael and Margaret (Leggin) Markulik. Mr. Markulik was a 1953 graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels and resided in Carmichaels since 2004. He served with the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and retired from Ferry Cap and Set Screw Company of Cleveland, Ohio on December 31, 1996 where he worked for 40 years. Mr. Markulik was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church of Carmichaels and Cumberland American Legion Post 400. He enjoyed the company of his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson. On September 1, 1956, he married Dolores Ann Lescar, who survives. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey F. Markulik of Atlantic Beach, Fla. and David W. Markulik of Parma; three daughters, Sharon L. Centner and her husband, David of Sharon Center, Ohio, Bernadette Emilio of Medina, Ohio and Brenda A. Markulik of Carmichaels; nine grandchildren, Jacquelyn A. Nemes-Nicholson, Krystle Lynne Belsan, Christopher A. Nemes, David A. Markulik, Alicia Margaret Emilio, Brittany R. Brenstuhl, Shannon Marie Markulik, Sarabeth G. Centner and Matthew S. Centner; a great grandson, Jacob David Nicholson; three brothers, Michael "Jack" Markulik and his wife, Nellie of Garden City, Mich., Melvin F. Markulik and his wife, Barbara of Aurora, Col. and James "Jim" Markulik and his wife, Clara of Carmichaels; a sister, Betty June Long of Carmichaels; a sister-in-law, Mary Markulik of Washington, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, William Charles Markulik and a brother-in-law, Wayne M. Long. Friends and family are welcome from 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, Pa. A blessing service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, 408 Route 88, Carmichaels with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels with full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday in the funeral home.
