Mary Ann Clark Whoolery Devecka of Waterford, Pa. and formerly of Carmichaels, Pa. died Friday, November 2, 2007 in Edinboro Manor, Edinboro, Pa. following a lengthy illness. She was born April 24, 1918 in Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Sarah Etta (Gadd) Clark. Mrs. Devecka attended Georges Township schools in Oliphant Furnace, Pa. and was currently a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carmichaels and was a 50 year charter member of the First Christian Church of Carmichaels. Mrs. Devecka was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hanson Cole Post 391, Fredericktown, Pa., Carmichaels Women's Civic Club, the American Retired Association and was a former member of the Lions Medical Center board of directors. She was a former secretary of the Lutheran Christian Women and was a charter member of the Greene Academy of Art. Mrs. Devecka was a former clerk of the Union Supply store in Carmichaels, Pa. and was a member of the A. A. L. Aid for the Association for Lutherans and was a former member of the Greene County Citizens Against Pollution. She owned and operated Mary's Luncheonette in Carmichaels for a number of years. On March 4, 1933, she married Raymond "Dutch" Whoolery who died March 20, 1975. On July 25, 1964, she married Milan D. "Max" Devecka who died July 25, 2005. Surviving are a daughter, L. Lorraine Carter and her husband, James Ronald of Waterford, Pa.; a son, Delbert D. Whoolery and his wife, Pat of Midway, Pa.; four grandchildren, Sharon Troyer and husband Kevin, of Waterford, PA, James Carter and his wife, Cindy of Yuma, AZ, David D. Whoolery and his wife, Carolyn of Leesburg, VA and Daniel B. Whoolery and his wife, Raegan of Mc Donald, PA; eight great grandchildren, Seth & Travis Carter, Kylee, Colby & Kamryn Troyer, Rachel & Taylor Whoolery and Kayla Whoolery and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two daughters, Sarah G. Whoolery who died in 1935 and Carol E. Whoolery who died in 1944 and a brother, Charles William Clark, who died in 1983. Family and friends are welcomed from 4 to 8 P. M. Sunday and from 9:30 A. M. until 10:30 A. M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 224 S. Market St., Carmichaels with the Rev. Jacqueline L. Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
