Michael W. Nelson, 57, of Masontown, Pa. and formerly of East Millsboro, Pa., went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, November 23, 2007 as the result of an accident in Monongahela Township, Greene County, Pa. He was born May 8, 1950 in Brownsville, Pa., a son of the late William A. and Mabel (Richards) Nelson. Mr. Nelson was a graduate of Brownsville Area High School and received his bachelor's degree in industrial arts from California State Teachers College (California University of Pennsylvania). He worked at the former Luzerne Coal Company for a number of years and later at Hillman Barge in Brownsville. Mr. Nelson attended the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle and enjoyed farming and working with his hands. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. On May 26, 1989, he married Donna J. Loya, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Michael W. Nelson, Jr. of Connecticut; three daughters, Jill Conrad of Corydon, Ind., Kelly R. Makripodis of Masontown and Kayla N. Ayersman of New Salem, Pa.; four grandchildren, Dakota, Devon, Dillon and Tasso; four sisters, Lynn Brittingham and her husband, Robert of Odenton, Md., Sue Stitt and her husband, William of Springhill, Fla., Beth Bubonovich and her husband, Mark of Uniontown, Pa. and Merry Aello and her husband, Dominic of Annapolis, Md. and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007with Pastor Milford J. Watters and Pastor Fred W. Tomlinson co-officiating. Interment will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
