Otis F. Estanich

Otis F. Estanich, 89 of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 2:50 P.M. on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his home. He was born April 30, 1918 in Superior, Pa., a son of the late John and Frances (Stajnrajh) Estanich. Mr. Estanich served in the U. S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge as a medic. He retired from the Nemacolin Mine as a motorman in 1985. Mr. Estanich moved to Carmichaels in 2006 after residing in Nemacolin since 1943. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Nemacolin Local 6290, American Legion Post 423 of Masontown, Pa. and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 of Masontown. Mr. Estanich served as a steward of the Greene County Citizens Club. On April 1, 1998, he married Jane Brown, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Anthony O. Estanich, Sr. and his wife, Deenie of Kings Mills, Ohio and Gary F. Estanich of Nemacolin; a daughter, Cynthia A. Estanich of Hartford, Conn.; three step children, Yvonne Carpenter Phillips, Bill Cooper and Lonnie Cooper; five grandchildren, Anthony O. Estanich, Jr., Michael C. Estanich, Alecia E. Richardson, Jillian M. Estanich and Jacqueline Carpenter; seven step grandchildren; two brothers, William Estanich and his wife, Gerry of Uniontown, Pa. and Joseph Estanich and his wife, Anne of Myrtle Beach, S. C. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his first wife, Margaret (Dockmonovich) Estanich; two daughters who died in infancy, Karen and Elizabeth Estanich; a brother, Fred Estanich and a sister, Bessie Zalar. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 3, 2008 with Rev. Chuck Durso officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa. with military honors accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584.
