James Lloyd Roberts

James Lloyd Roberts, 79, of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Blacksville, W. Va. and Pine Bank, Pa., died at 9:04 A.M. on Friday, September 22, 2006 at Canonsburg General Hospital, Canonsburg, Pa. He was born June 30, 1927 in Pine Bank, a son of the late Blaine and Sarah Ladoska Cole Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He worked at Warner Barbershop in Morgantown, W. Va. and later owned and operated a barbershop in Blacksville for a few years. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Blacksville Baptist Church and a former member of the Moose Lodge No. 461 of Waynesburg. He enjoyed fishing, playing croquet, pool and cards. On July 2, 1955, he married Julia K. Phillips, who died January 8, 2005. Surviving are two sons, James Schroeder Roberts of Carmichaels and John Walter Phillips of Seattle, Wash.; four brothers, J. Frank Roberts and his wife, Dorothy of Beaver, Pa., Robert B. Roberts and his wife, Jean of Burgettstown, Pa., Blaine Roberts, Jr. and his wife, Loraine of Beaver and Roy A. Roberts of Beaver; a sister, Sylvia M. Kent and her husband, Scott of Beaver and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Ewing C. Roberts, John Sherman Roberts, Donovan Roberts and Lawrence W. Roberts and two sisters, Evelyn Houser and Ruth Ann Masters. Family and friends are welcomed from Noon to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 25, 2006 with the Rev. Dr. Stewart Johnson officiating. The graveside military committal will follow at 1:30 P.M. on Monday at Pine Bank Cemetery, Gilmore Township, Greene County by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491.
