Ruth R. Thomas

Ruth R. Thomas, 89 of Bobtown, Pa., died at 1:15 A.M. on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born October 5, 1918 in Banning, Westmoreland County, Pa., a daughter of the late Samuel Edward and Mae (Wiltrout) Robertson. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Bobtown United Methodist Church and was a 1937 graduate of Point Marion High School. She attended Morgantown Business College and worked as a secretary for the West Virginia University in the Division of Animal and Veterinary Science. Mrs. Thomas was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Emerald Chapter O. E. S. No. 135 of Waynesburg. She was a member of the Warrior Trail Association, Elder Care of Pennsylvania, Waynesburg Senior Center and was active with the Waynesburg Chapter of the A. A. R. P. In 1994, she received the National Community Service Award from the A. A. R. P. and taught the 55 Alive Driving Course for the A. A. R. P. In addition, Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Centerville Clinic where she served on the advisory board and was a member of the Nutritional Council for the Area on Aging in Monessen. She resided in Bobtown nearly all of her life. On September 24, 1938, she married Frank Thomas, who died March 7, 1991. Surviving are two grandchildren, Christopher Nikolsky of Mission Beach, Cal. and Jennifer Nikolsky of Catonsville, Md.; her son-in-law, Alex Nikolsky of Columbia, Md. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are her daughter, Carol Ann Nikolsky and two brothers, James Robertson, who died in childhood and Harry E. Robertson. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 with Rev. Erwin (Woody) Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Emerald Chapter O. E. S. No. 135 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
