Sophia Podolinski, 85, of Greensboro (Cabbage Flats), Pa., died at 5:35 A.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. She was born April 8, 1921 in Sharpsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Victoria (Racis) Baranowski. Mrs. Podolinski attended Point Marion High School and had worked at the Houze Glass Corporation in Point Marion. She resided in the Greensboro area most of her life where she was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and a former member of the Rosary Altar Society. On April 7, 1945, she married Michael Podolinski, who died October 29, 2002. Surviving are three sons, John M. Podolinski of Greensboro, Michael J. Podolinski and his wife, Maria of Morgantown and Richard A. Podolinski and his wife, Christina of Greensboro; two daughters, Vicky L. Chapman and her husband, Michael of Silver Spring, Md. and Beverly A. Robertson and her husband, Jesse of Greensboro; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Ann Podolinski of Waynesburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Marcie Clark and her husband, Mike, Michael Podolinski, Sophia Podolinski, David Chapman and Matthew Chapman; three great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Aliceon and Noah Clark; two step grandchildren, Brandon and Kaytlin Robertson; a brother, John Baranowski and his wife, Stella of Parma, Ohio; two sisters, Anna Marie Baranowski and Virginia Baranowski, both of Bobtown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is an infant brother, Stanley Baranowski. Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, Pa., where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 A. M. on Friday, January 26, 2007 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Family Worship Site of the St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish, Greensboro with the Rev. Lawrence Holpp as celebrant. Interment will follow at Point Marion Endowed (Evergreen Memorial) Cemetery, Point Marion, Pa. A Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M. on Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
