Steven F. Billetz, 75 of Greensboro, Pa., died at 5:08 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born September 14, 1931 in Monongahela Township, Greene County, Pa. a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Regan) Billetz. Mr. Billetz was a 1949 graduate of Mapletown High School where he excelled in all sports. He resided in the Greensboro area all of his life and retired in 1990 as day shift mine supervisor for the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine. Mr. Billetz worked at the mine for 40 years. He was a member and usher for the Holy Family Catholic Church of Greensboro and was an altar server during his early life. Mr. Billetz was a member of the B. P. O. Elks Lodge No. 757, Waynesburg, Pa. and served as a Monongahela Township Democratic Committeeman. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a keen supporter of Mapletown sports and the University of Notre Dame football and basketball programs. Mr. Billetz was a loving husband, father and grandfather and especially enjoyed his granddaughter Marlaina's boxer, Katie. On March 17, 1950, he married Edith Hawk, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Stephen E. Billetz and his wife, Donna Lee of Dilliner, Pa.; a daughter, Stephanie A. Mallory and her husband, Charles Ray of Greensboro; two granddaughters, Myra L. Billetz of Dilliner and Marlaina Raye Mallory of Greensboro; two brothers, George Billetz and his wife, Martha of Dallas, Tex. and Andrew Billetz of Parlin, N. J.; four sisters, Mary Babyak of Astoria, N. Y., Julia Mikelinich of Mount Kisco, N. Y., Veronica Billetz of Detroit, Mich. and Alice Novak of Greensboro; his sister-in-law, Helen Billetz of Greensboro; his mother-in-law, Helen Hawk of Greensboro and his brother-in-law, Charles E. Hawk and his wife, Wanda of Greensboro and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Joseph Billetz and John Billetz and three sisters, Susan Billetz, Catherine Wishinski and Anna Papuga. Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 P.M. on Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Family Worship Site of the St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish, Greensboro with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. A vigil service will be held at 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
