Thomas A. Buday, 74, of Greensboro (Mapletown), Pa., died at 8:10 P.M. on Monday, May 28, 2007 at his home. He was born May 16, 1933 in Nemacolin, Pa., a son of the late Joseph Michael and Mary (Kurtik) Buday. Mr. Buday resided in Mapletown most of his life and served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He initially worked in construction and later worked as a mechanic and welder for the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine from 1971 until 1989. Mr. Buday was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church of Greensboro and recently was attending the Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church of Nemacolin. He was also a member of the Duquesne Light Local 6310 of the United Mine Workers of America and enjoyed cooking and hunting. On March 4, 1955, he married Peggie R. Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Michael Anthony Buday and his wife, Kathryn of Dilliner, Pa.; a daughter, Denise Marie Hatela and her husband, Daniel of Masontown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Colby Cormack, Michele Murray and Tiffany Buday; a great grandson Gunnar Murray; a brother, Paul Buday of Montana; three sisters, Loretta Los and her husband, Ed of Scenery Hill, Pa., Dorothy Nixon and her husband, Sam of Uniontown, Pa. and Phyliss Helmick and her husband, Kenny of Tucson, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a grandson, Marcus Cormack; three brothers, John, Joe and Steve Buday and six sisters, Mary Los, Anabelle Vrana, Kathryn Helsick, Julia Kurtik, Genievive Ludrosky and a sister who died in infancy. Family and friends are welcomed from 6 to 9 P.M. on Wednesday and 5 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. (724-966-5500) where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 1, 2007, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 A. M. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, 408 Route 88, Carmichaels with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery with full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491.
