Uarda Riffle

Uarda Grace Riffle, 94, of Greensboro, Pa., died Thursday, June 7, 2007, in West Bloomfield, Mich. She was born August 2, 1912, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of Charles N. and Emmaline (Adams) Romesburg. After graduating from Uniontown High School and working at the Grant's Five & Dime, she met and married the love of her life, Herman G. Riffle. The Riffles moved to Greensboro in 1934 where they spent their married life together. Herman passed away in 1992 after 58 years of marriage. Herman and Uarda were avid gardeners and spent the Fall canning and cooking things from their garden. They lived next to the Greensboro & Monongahela Township Volunteer Department firehouse and for 50 years rang the siren that called the volunteers to the fire station when needed. She was very proud of her many years of service on the Greensboro Borough Council. Mrs. Riffle also loved to care for her numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces that would visit her home on the Monongahela River in the summer. She was a member of the Greensboro Presbyterian Church and the Uniontown Chapter No. 263 O. E. S. Surviving are a son, Charles H. Riffle of West Bloomfield; a daughter, Beverly U. Seiders of Riverdale, Md.; five grandchildren, Kenneth L. Riffle, Michael W. Riffle, Marc L. Riffle, H. Joseph Seiders and Margaret Anne (Seiders) Beitzell; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Robert H. Riffle, Robin L. Seiders and Valerie (Riffle) Miller and three brothers and three sisters. Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Friday, June 15, 2007 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 16, 2007 with Dr. Robert M. Randolph officiating. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a church or charity of the donor's choice. Uniontown Chapter No. 263, O. E. S. will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 P.M. on Friday in the funeral home.
