Katherine Evosevich Grooms

July 26, 1924 — August 13, 2008

Katherine Evosevich Grooms, 84 of Carmichaels, Pa. passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Wednesday, August 13, 2008 after a lengthy illness. She was born July 26, 1924 in Rices Landing, Pa. (the village of Serbiantown) a daughter of the late Milich and Milica (Crnkovich) Evosevich. In her younger years, Katherine served with honor and pride as a defense worker during WW II, helping build B-29 strategic bombers at the Fisher Body Plant in Cleveland, Ohio. However, the occupation that she most adored was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. On November 12, 1949 she married William F. Grooms, Sr. who died July 26, 1990. Surviving are three sons, William F. Grooms, Jr. and his wife Vicky of Shinnston, W. Va., Robert P. Grooms and his wife Lillian of Uniontown, Pa. and Mark A. Grooms of Carmichaels, Pa.; one daughter Sandra K. Harkleroad and her husband Jeffery of Carmichaels, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Ruth E. Grooms, Jarod M. Jeffries, Kayla R. Jeffries, Kristopher W. Grooms, Kory K. Grooms, Teresa M. Morrow and Ryan R. Grooms; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Anna Krewasky of Rices Landing, Pa. (the village of Serbiantown), Marian Semosky of Brunswick, Ohio, Mildred Zorman of Crucible, Pa. and Stella Shlosky of Nemacolin, Pa. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Deceased in addition to her husband is her eldest son Gary W. Grooms who died March 6, 1979; two brothers, Michael Evosevich and Milan Evosevich and two sisters, Eva Modrick Popincak and Sue Catanese. Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 P. M. and 7 to 9 P. M. Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00 A. M. with the Rev. Harold O. Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of The Washington Hospital (Gifts to Hospice Care), 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, Pa. 15301.
