Herman R. Strube

Herman R. Strube, 84 of Carmichaels, Pa., went to be with the Lord at 7:00 A. M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. He was born May 8, 1924 in German Township, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Daniel William and Charlotte (Parker) Strube. Mr. Strube resided in Carmichaels since 1952 and served with the U. S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. He was ordained an Elder at the former Glades Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels in 1958 where he served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Mr. Strube later taught Sunday school at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church where he was presently a member and Elder. He volunteered as assistant scout leader at one time in Carmichaels and also managed the Carmichaels King Coal Little League. In 1986, Mr. Strube retired from the Consolidated Coal Company Robena Mine and was a member of U. M. W. A. Robena Local 6321 and a former member of the Carmichaels Senior Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. On June 27, 1946, he married O. Jean Beatty, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James R. Strube and his wife, Lizbeth of Leesburg, Ind. and Mark E. Strube and his wife, Tammy of Carlisle, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Liggitt, Debra Lackey, Matthew Strube, Stephanie Strube, Andrew Strube, John Rensberger, Katrina Rensberger, Caleb Rensberger and Andrew Rensberger; seven great grandchildren; a brother, John C. Strube of Masontown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Judy Rae Strube, who died in infancy; a great granddaughter, Kaitlynn Lackey; a brother, Charles W. Strube and a sister, Henrietta Lynn. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 E. Greene St., Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. P. Keith Larson and the Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate. Interment will follow at Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa. with full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 363, Carmichaels, PA 15320-0363.
