Helen Cihon Longshore Nielson

Helen A. Cihon Longshore Nielson, 84, a long time resident of Tucson, Arizona and formerly of Nemacolin, Pa., died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in Tucson. She was born July 30, 1924 in Roswell, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Antoletz) Cihon. Helen was a life long teacher and taught in schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Her longest teaching assignment was in Monroeville, Pa. Helen moved to Tucson and taught at Los Ninos Elementary School, Sunnyside District. She resided in Mountain View Retirement Village for the past several years. She is survived by her husband, Corwin Nielson with whom she happily shared the last few years of her life; a brother, Dr. William P. Cihon of Tucson; a sister, Cecelia Yoskovich and her husband, Martin of Masontown, Pa.; a niece, Suzanne Fish and her husband, Bill of Tucson; two sisters-in-law, Josephine (Jay) Cihon of Gates Mills, Ohio and Isabel Cihon of Mentor, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews residing in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Deceased are four brothers, Adam Cihon, who died in infancy, Joseph Cihon, John Cihon and Steve Cihon and three sisters, Anna Cihon, who died in childhood, Margaret (Marge) Mrazek and Mary Hurtuk. A memorial service was held at 10:00 A. M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in Adair Funeral Homes, Avalon Chapel, 8090 North Northern Avenue, Tucson, Arizona. The family suggested that memorial donations to the American Lung Association of Arizona, 2819 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716.
