Mary Snyder Coutry

On January 7, 2009, Mary Snyder Coutry, of Pittsburgh, Pa. and formerly of Springfield, Va., after 92 wonderful years on earth, has made her journey to Heaven, to be welcomed with open arms by her beloved husband, Bill, with whom she shared 25 years of his life and love before his passing in 1979. She was born October 31, 1916. Mary will be greatly missed by her loving sisters, Betty Hudson of Carmichaels, Pa., Edna Sluganski of Pittsburgh and a sister-in-law, Betty L. Snyder of Fairborn, Ohio. Mary also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Mildred Donato and her husband, Angelo; Carol Modrick; Audrey Coppler; Betty Phillips and her husband, Thurman; James Snyder and his wife, Heidi; Patsy Maleski and her husband, Joseph; Sandra Gwaltney; David Hudson and his wife, Denise and Randy Sluganski and his wife, Sandra. She is also survived by a stepson, Gary Coutry and his wife, Joan of Florida. Mary was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, both of Springfield, Va. She was a member of the South Run Baptist Church of Springfield. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Clinton and Lula (Daniels) Snyder and sister of the late Edward Snyder, Ethel Johnson, Ada Reagan, James Snyder, Elmer Snyder, Jr., Della Sluganski and John William Snyder. After Glow "I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways. Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done." Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2009. The Rev. Kenneth A. Haines will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the South Run Baptist Church, 8712 Selger Drive, Springfield, VA 22153-1707.
