Zelda C. Kozar, 92 of Uniontown, Pa. and formerly of Greensboro, Pa., died at 9:10 A.M. on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at LaFayette Manor, Uniontown, Pa. She was born November 3, 1916 in Coal Center, Washington County, Pa., a daughter of the late R. Herman and Irene (Allman) Carson. Mrs. Kozar was a 1934 graduate of Bentleyville High School and during World War II, she was employed at the Corning Glass Company in Charleroi. Mrs. Kozar was a member of the Mapletown United Methodist Church where she served the Church as treasurer for many years beginning on July 1, 1963. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Emerald Chapter No. 135, Order of the Eastern Star of Waynesburg, Pa., a former member of the former Lady Taylor Rebekah Lodge No. 479 in Taylortown (Dunkard), Pa. and served as Noble Grand and District Deputy President of the Lady Taylor Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Kozar was a former member and president of the Southeastern Greene Women's Club and a member of the Hospice Care, Inc. In addition, she was a member and former chaplain of the Dunkard Township Grange, a member of Greene County Pomona Grange and the Pennsylvania State and National Grange. On July 12, 1939, she married George Kozar, Jr., who died May 30, 1982. Surviving are three brothers, Lester W. Carson of Daisytown, Pa., Frank M. Carson and his wife, Carrie and Loyal N. Carson and his wife, Jackie all of Washington, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband are a brother, H. Wayne Carson and two sisters, Freda L. Crise and Vera Ruth Johnson. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Pastor Kenneth A. Haines will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Creek Cemetery, Fallowfield Township, Washington County, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Mapletown United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 502, Greensboro, PA 15338. Emerald Chapter No. 135 O. E. S. will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
