Wilbur M. Sonny Wilson

Wilbur M. "Sonny" Wilson, 87 of Mount Morris, Pa., died at 12:10 A.M. on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born July 26, 1921 in Coolspring, North Union Township, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late James Henderson and Beulah (Tuttle) Wilson. Mr. Wilson worked at the J & L Steel Corporation Bobtown Mine in his early years before serving in the U. S. Army with the 790th Railway Operations Battalion in the European Theater during World War II. After his military service, he worked for the Monongahela Railroad for about nine years before working for the Lubrizol Corporation in Painesville, Ohio until his retirement in 1974. He returned to Greene County after his retirement and resided and worked at the former Michael Lucas Funeral Home in Mount Morris. Later, Mr. Wilson was self employed in construction. He was a member of the Mount Morris United Methodist Church and Temple Lodge No. 28, F. and A. M. of Painesville, Ohio and was a former member of the James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992 of Mount Morris and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bobtown. Surviving are his twin sister, Wilma (Sis) Johnson of Dilliner (Dunkard), Pa. and several nieces, nephews and his "adopted family", Jill and Alan Heldreth and their children, Timothy, Thomas and Hannah, all of Mount Morris. Deceased are three brothers, Simeon Wilson, who died in infancy, Harold Wilson and James Wilson; three sisters, Agnes Nehls, Sara Jane Johnson and Maye Pollock and two half brothers, Clark Wilson and Clyde Raymond Wilson. Family and friends are welcome from 7 to 9 P.M. on Saturday and Noon to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2009 in the funeral home with Pastor Erwin "Woody" Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. Waynesburg Lodge No. 153, F. and A. M. will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday in the funeral home. Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 will accord military honors at the graveside.
