Edwin A. Jacobs, 88 of Fredericktown, Pa. and formerly of Washington, Pa., died at 5:40 P.M. on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. He was born July 10, 1920 in Washington, Pa., a son of the late John Harold and Sarah Willametta (Mountain) Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was a member of the former Millsboro United Methodist Church and a current member of the Rices Landing United Methodist Church. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II as a gunners mate, third class in the Asiatic-Pacific. Mr. Jacobs worked as a machinist for S. P. Kenny Engineer Corporation and also drove coal trucks. He was an accomplished guitar player and played in several local and Pittsburgh jazz bands. On May 22, 2000, he married Anna L. (Bane) Jacobs, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John H. Jacobs and his wife, Susan of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Dave L. Jacobs of Chicago, Ill; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two step sons, John Rogers and his wife, Leanna of Carmichaels and William Rogers and his wife, Nancy of Jefferson, Pa.; two step daughters, Barbara Howes and her husband, Jim of Deemston Boro, Pa. and Judy Penvose and her husband, Jay of Houston, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Linda Lou Allen; a brother, Raymond Jacobs and two grandchildren, Dennis Sitar and Angela Sitar. There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2009 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. Pastor James D. Lewis, Jr. will officiate. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Donnell House (Gifts to Donnell House), c/o Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, PA 15301 or to the American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Division Inc., Southwest Region, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15205-4620. Military Rites will be accorded by the Steele-Lillie American Legion Post 744 of Marianna, Pa.
