Samuel Brady Black, 80 of Fairless Hills, Pa. and formerly of Garards Fort, Pa., died unexpectedly on Friday, April 24, 2009 at his home. He was born December 5, 1928 in Garards Fort, a son of the late Edward and Helen (Williamson) Black. Mr. Black was a graduate of Mapletown High School, Greensboro, Pa. and resided in Fairless Hills since the 1960's. He served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 of Carmichaels, Pa. Surviving are his former wife, Louise Byer of Fairless Hills; a son, Ricky L. Byer of Fairless Hills; a step son, Robert R. Byer of Trenton, N. J.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Hugh Black and his wife, Peggy of Mount Dora, Fla.; a sister, Phyllis Black of Madison, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Daryl Black, who died in infancy, Bruce Black and Edward Black; a sister, Ruby Humphrey and a step son, Joseph B. Byer. There will be no public viewing and a graveside committal of his cremains at Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort, Pa. is being planned. Full Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 both of Carmichaels, Pa.
