Clarence I. Johnson, Jr., 79 of Waynesburg (Greene Township), Pa., died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at his home. He was born October 24, 1929 in Lavansville, Somerset County, Pa., a son of the late Clarence Ira and Edith (Hemminger) Johnson, Sr. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Somerset High School and received his bachelor's degree from Penn State University. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and resided in Greene County for the past 47 years. Mr. Johnson was a longtime member of the Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Garards Fort and retired from Agway in 1990 after 32 years working as store manager in Waynesburg, Pa., then as an agribusiness consultant to farmers in southwestern Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Warrior Trail Association and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working his family farm. On June 11, 1955, he married Lois Headlee, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Keith A. Johnson and his wife, Melinda of Winchester, Va. and Dale B. Johnson of Narvon, Pa.; three daughters, Kathy Lynn Johnson and her husband, Robert Masson of Shepherdstown, W. Va., Donna Rae Johnson Short and her husband, Tim of Boiling Springs, Pa. and Susan J. Anderson and her husband, Ken of Franktown, Col.; four grandchildren, Audra Yebernetsky, Ryan Coder, Lauren Coder and Eric Anderson; two brothers, Thomas Johnson and his wife, Shirley of Kirtland, Ohio and Glenn Johnson and his wife, Jayne of Bellvue, Col.; seven sisters, Jean Swindell of North Olmsted, Ohio, Dorothy Barlow of Oberlin, Ohio, Carley Suter and her husband, Jim of Somerset, Pa., Rena Tipton of Mantua, Ohio, Ruth Barron and her husband, Tom of Somerset, Kay Neri and her husband, Rich of Boswell, Pa. and Linda Griffith and her husband, Dale of Pittsburgh, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Fred Johnson and Daniel Johnson. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Pastor Gale Cobb will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
