George Mosolovich, 88 of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Rices Landing, Pa., died at 10:20 P.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born September 10, 1920 in Crucible, Pa., a son of the late Thomas and Anna (Prebula) Mosolovich. Mr. Mosolovich resided in Rices Landing (Cumberland Township) most of his life and worked at the former Crucible Mine, Crucible, Pa. and the Grant Town Mine, Grant Town, W. Va. In 1983, he retired as a foreman for the Gateway Mine in Greene County, Pa. Mr. Mosolovich was a veteran of World War II and was proud that he served 29 months with the 33rd United States Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in the South Pacific. He was a former member of American Legion Post 816, Rices Landing and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. Mr. Mosolovich enjoyed fishing, reading and gardening. On May 6, 1945, he married Helen Uhrin, who died September 20, 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Susan A. Gearing and her husband, Bill of Columbia, Md. and Jane A. Loren of Bloomsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Amy Gearing and David Sheranko; two sisters, Ann Kwiatkowski and Pauline Eckenrode, both of Baltimore, Md. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Frank, Thomas and Steve Mosolovich; a sister, Katherine Porter and a half brother, Mike Marcin. There will be no public viewing and interment will be private. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Flenniken Memorial Library, 102 E. George St., Carmichaels, PA 15320.
