Eli Mike Zorich, 83 of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Carnegie, Pa., died at 5:19 A.M. on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. after a short illness. He was born October 22, 1925 in Masontown, Pa., a son of the late Alex and Rose Eleanor (Rodavich) Zorich, Sr. Mr. Zorich was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School, Carmichaels, Pa. and served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Zorich was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303 of Greensboro, Pa. and American Legion Post 945. In addition, he was a member of Centennial Lodge No 544, F. & A. M., Carnegie and the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection. On October 14, 1951, he married Eva M. Knight, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Eli M. Zorich and his wife, Beverly of Oakdale, Pa. and Eric M. Zorich and his wife, Rose of Waynesburg; a daughter, Eva Zorich-Hess and her husband, Russell of Jefferson, Pa.; two grandsons, Christopher Zorich of Oakdale and Jordan Hess of Jefferson; a brother, Alex Zorich and his wife, Helen of Chester Springs, Pa.; two sisters, Rose Domen and her husband, James and Dolores Jean Martin and her husband, Paul all of Shiremanstown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Edward M. Zorich and two sisters, Caroline Phillips and Anna Phillips. Family and friends are welcome from Noon to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. and in the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 296 Old Route 21 Rd., Carmichaels from 10:30 A. M. until 11:00 A.M., the hour of service on Monday, September 28, 2009. The Rev. Dr. Rodney Torbic will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303 and 3491 and Cumberland American Legion Post 400. The Pomen Service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday in the funeral home. Valley Lodge No. 459, F. & A. M. will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 P. M. on Sunday in the funeral home.
