Robert C. Black, 58 of Dilliner, Pa., died at 12:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. after a brief illness. He was born September 14, 1951 in Waynesburg, a son of Dorothy L. (Metcalf) Black of Garards Fort, Pa. and the late Robert E. Black. Mr. Black was a 1969 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided in Greene County all of his life. He had worked at the Consolidated Coal Company Osage #3 Mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Black enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are a son, Steven R. Black of Dilliner; two daughters, Bobbie Lynn Cooper and her husband, Edward of Fairchance, Pa. and Misty Renee Black of Dilliner; nine grandchildren, Carlie Haines, Miranda Haines, Brandon Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Jaylin Cooper, Steven Black, Charity Black, Dalton Black and Dakota Black; a sister, Linda D. Helmick and her husband, Chipper of Garards Fort; a nephew, Keith Helmick and his wife, Linda; two great nieces, Morgan and Madison Helmick and the mother of his children, Karen Morris of Point Marion, Pa. Family and friends are welcome from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 2, 2009. Pastor Fred W. Tomlinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery.
