Melissa Ann Spudich Baker, 30 of Crucible, Pa. and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., passed to be with the Lord on Friday, November 20, 2009 in her home. She was born April 15, 1979 in West Point, N. Y., a daughter of Michael Anthony Spudich, Sr. of New Salem, Pa. and Anna Scholler of Lawrence, Pa. Melissa was a 1997 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and a 2006 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania where she received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She served with the U. S. Marine Corps and worked as a corrections officer at the Greene County Prison in Waynesburg, Pa. for the past year. Melissa was a volunteer coach for the Carmichaels midget football team. Surviving in addition to her parents are a son, Brett Joseph Baker at home; a step son, Nathaniel Scott Baker; a sister, Jennifer Lynn Spudich of Uniontown, Pa.; two brothers, Michael Anthony Spudich, II of Carmichaels, Pa. and Nicholas Joseph Spudich of Lawrence and several aunts and uncles. Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 8:00 P. M. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in the funeral home with Pastor Andy Miles officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Brett Joseph Baker Education Fund, C/O Anna Scholler, P.O. Box 161, Lawrence, PA 15055.
