Stephen Klamerus

Stephen Klamerus, 87 of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 9:50 P.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at his home. He was born August 13, 1922 in Dunlap, Menallen Township, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Graczek) Klamerus. Mr. Klamerus was a 1940 graduate of Redstone Township High School and resided in Cumberland Township, Greene County all of his married life. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II and retired from the Gateway Mine in 1984. Mr. Klamerus was a member of the Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church of Nemacolin, Pa. and the United Mine Workers of America Gateway Local 6259. He was a former member of the Greene County Citizen's Club in Nemacolin. Mr. Klamerus was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and the New York Yankees and was a former senior league coach. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and reading. Because his family was important to him, he attended nearly every sporting event in which his family participated. On September 16, 1950 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Brownsville, Pa., he married Margaret Ann Donelich, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Jerry F. Klamerus and his wife, Jackie of Severna Park, Md.; two daughters, Margaret McCombs and her husband, Jerry and Bernadette Klamerus, all of Carmichaels; two grandsons, Jerry McCombs and Justin Klamerus; a great granddaughter, Madison McCombs; a sister, Helen Balas of California, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are five brothers, John, Joseph, Mike, Andrew and William Klamerus and three sisters, Victoria Aldridge, Frances Bellotti and Elizabeth Maida. The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness and good care given by his hospice caregivers, Beth, Joe and Rachelle. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 8 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 A.M. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday in the funeral home. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 and Cumberland American Legion Post 400 will accord military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, P.O. Box 206, Nemacolin, PA 15351 or Albert Gallatin Hospice, 102 S. Main St., Masontown, PA 15461.
