Helen G. Six

Helen G. Six, 96 of Greensboro, Pa. died Friday, February 12, 2010 with her family by her side, in the Donnell House in Washington, Pa. following a brief illness. She was born April 9, 1913 in Mapletown, Pa. (Monongahela Twp.) a daughter of the late George Swazey and Lillian (Barb) Gapen. She was a graduate of Mapletown High School. Mrs. Six received her degree in Education from Waynesburg College. She taught at the Greensboro and Sugar Grove Schools in the Southeastern Greene School District for twenty and a half years until her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Six was a member of the Mapletown United Methodist Chruch where she taught Sunday School and was an active member on the Church Board. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the former Emerald Chapter # 135, O.E.S. of Waynesburg, Pa and a current member of the Martha V. Paul Chapter #404, O.E.S. of Washington, Pa. She also served as a Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls. Mrs. Six was also a member of the Carmichaels Grange #1389 and Daughters of the American Revolution. On February 20, 1937 she married Harley Thadeus Six who died November 9, 1978. Surviving is a brother John Gapen and his wife Irene of Waynesburg and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three dear friends and caregivers, Olivia Burich, Lois Burwell and Clara Mae Henry. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are two brothers, George Barb Gapen and S. Clarke Gapen. Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 with the Rev. Kenneth A. Haines, Pastor Erwin "Woody" Wilson co officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown. Eastern Star services will be held on Tuesday, February 16 at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation may be made to the Mapletown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 502, Greensboro, Pa. 15338 or the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Rd., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
