Georgia Ann Stofcheck

Georgia Ann Stofcheck, 74, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 7:06 P.M. on Saturday, March 27, 2010 surrounded by her family at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg, Pa. following an eight-month battle with cancer. She was born November 4, 1935, in Jefferson, Pa., a daughter of the late George and Ann (Mego) Vowcheck. Mrs. Stofcheck was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School. She was a homemaker and, prior to her retirement, was a waitress at the former Betty Deems Restaurant in Carmichaels and the Route 21 Dairy Bar in Carmichaels. Mrs. Stofcheck also helped her longtime best friend, Carol Maurin, at Carol's Beauty Salon in Carmichaels. She considered Carol like a sister. Mrs. Stofcheck also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carmichaels and often served as a greeter, along with her husband, Thomas Stofcheck, who survives. The couple was united in marriage on February 17, 1955. Also surviving are a daughter, Deborah Ann Christensen Everly and her husband William, of Carmichaels; three sons, Thomas Stephen Stofcheck and his wife, Diana of Carmichaels, Robert Edward Stofcheck of Waynesburg, Pa. and David George Stofcheck and his wife, Christine of Clarksville, Pa. Georgia will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Courtney Anne Stofcheck, Samantha Ann Christensen, Jakob Kenneth Nyswaner and Noah Domenick Thomas Stofcheck. Also surviving are her former son-in-law, Steven Christensen of Carmichaels; a sister, Tamara Lee Watreas of Waynesburg; a brother, Cedric George Vowcheck and his wife, Shirley of Washington, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday and 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carmichaels with the Rev. Herbert D. Dubler officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 224 S. Market St., Carmichaels, PA 15320.
