Mary Hixon Rager, 90 of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Rices Landing, Pa., died at 12:00 A.M. on Sunday, April 25, 2010 in her home. She was born October 19, 1919 in Latrobe, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph Gallagher and Mae M. (Osborne) Hollis. Mrs. Rager was a 1937 graduate of Cumberland Township High School and resided in Rices Landing most of her life. She was a member of the Rices Landing United Methodist Church and was last employed as a seamstress at Greenway Manufacturing, Waynesburg, Pa. Mrs. Rager enjoyed playing bingo and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Thomas F. Hixon, II and his wife, Mary J. of Rices Landing; a daughter, Celissa M. Smolk and her husband, Richard with whom she made her home in Carmichaels; four grandchildren, John Edward Addis, Thomas Travis Teegarden, Thomas F. Hixon, III and Gwendolyn Hasselquist; six great grandchildren; a brother, Samuel J. Hollis and his wife, Donna of Kernsville, N. C.; three sisters, Bertha Mae Tallerico of Grove City, Pa., Olive H. Pauza and her husband, Charles of Chico, Cal. and Sally Jo Kerfoot and her husband, Bernard of Lakewood, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are her first husband, Thomas F. Hixon; her second husband, Lloyd K. Rager; a daughter, Mary Jane "Suzy" Kast; a grandson, Sean Patrick Addis and two sisters, Betty Louise Hollis and Lorraine J. Kerfoot. Family and friends are welcome from 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday and Noon to 1:00 P.M., the hour of service on Friday, April 30, 2010 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. President Gene R. Conklin will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
