Erma J. Baker

Erma J. Baker, 81 of Carmichaels, Pa. died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in her home following a brief illness. She was born July 17, 1928 in Maxwell, Pa. a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Henderson) Gency. Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and resided in the Carmichaels area most of her life. She was a member of the Carmichaels Women's Civic Club and enjoyed playing bingo. Mrs. Baker was also a member of the St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, where she was active with the Rosary Society. On August 28, 1948 she married Joseph Baker, who died January 18, 1994. Also surviving are three sons; Joseph Baker and his wife Barbara of Mechanicsville, Md., Robert Baker and his wife Joyce of Waynesburg, Pa. and Donald Baker of Carmichaels; one daughter Kathleen Baker of Carmichaels; six grandchildren, Robert Joseph Baker and his wife Dana, Amy Voohaar and her husband Matthew, Joseph Baker, IV and his wife Brandi, Brandon Michael Baker and his fiancée J. L., Alayna Renee Baker and Donald Adam Baker; three great grandchildren, Jenifer McLaren, R. J. Baker and Alexis Baker; one brother James Gency and his wife Katherine of Brunswick, Ohio and two sisters, Peggy Goda and her husband Edmund of Lakewood, Ohio and Cleo Cobb of McKees Rocks, Pa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a brother John Gency and a sister Freda Griffen. Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday and 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a Blessing Service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Resurrection in St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels at 9:30 A.M. with the Rev. John M. Bauer as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. A Vigil Service will be held Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
