Robert D. Moore, 86 of Carmichaels, Pa. died Sunday, May 16, 2010 in his home, following a brief illness. He was born April 19, 1924 in Pleasant Unity, Westmoreland County, Pa. a son of the late Walter D. and Nellie G. (Sherrow) Moore. Mr. Moore attended Cumberland Township High School and later entered the US Army, having served with the 60th Infantry, 9th Division. After returning home he drove truck in the Cleveland, Ohio area before beginning his long career with BB Construction in Connecticut. Mr. Moore loved pitching horseshoes, hunting, fishing and taking care of his tomato plants. In July 1977 he married Betty (Heath) Moore, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl A. Cass and her husband Steven of Schuylerville, New York and Kerry L. Moore of Tabor City, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Taylor, Jr., Alicia Taylor, Amy Moore, Philip Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Kendra Taylor and Brandi Taylor; three great grandchildren, Shaylee Taylor, McKenzie Taylor and Thomas Taylor; a brother James E. Moore and his wife Anna Mae of Carmichaels and a sister, Dorothy Blasko of North Windham, Conn. Deceased in addition to his parents are two brothers, Marshall Moore and Richard Moore. Family and friends are welcomed Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. the hour of a service in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. with Pastor Kenneth D. Summers officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
