Irene Stofcheck Bailey, 82 of Crystal River, Fla., formerly of Carmichaels passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River. She was born April 2, 1928 in Bobtown, Pa. a daughter of the late Samuel and Florence Hutchison Wiltrout. Mrs. Bailey loved spending time in her yard and garden. For several years she was an avid bowler in the Carmichaels area. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was very fond of animals. Mrs. Bailey was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader in the Carmichaels area for many years. She was Lutheran by faith. Surviving in addition to her long time friend and companion, Rune V. Torstenson are her two sisters; Frances Kelly of Bobtown and Shirley Toedter and her husband Mel of Leavenworth, Kan.; a son Ben Stofcheck and his wife Karen of Crystal River; a daughter Valerie Vahaly of Cokeburg; grandsons, Pete Stofcheck and wife Charlene of Waynesburg and Steve and Chris Stofcheck both of Crystal River; great grandchildren Madison and Mason Stofcheck both of Waynesburg and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are her first husband, Peter P. Stofcheck who died in 1977 and her second husband, George M. Bailey who died in 1985; a sister Jean McClure and a brother Walter Wiltrout. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 224 South Market Street, Carmichaels with the Rev. Herbert D. Dubler officiating. Inurnment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
