Gary L. Marquis, 66 of Greensboro, Pa., died at 9:25 A.M. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in his home. He was born October 31, 1943 in Glen Rock, Pa., a son of the late LeRoy Alexander and Lila Augusta (Rohrbaugh) Marquis. Mr. Marquis was a 1961 graduate of Osbourn High School, Manassas, Va. and resided in the Greensboro area most of his married life. He attended the Greensboro Presbyterian Church and served as a military policeman with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Marquis worked as a foreman in heavy construction and retired in 2004. He was the clock operator at the Mapletown High School for various sporting activities for many years and was a member of the Greene County Men's Softball League. Mr. Marquis was an avid hunter and gardener and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66, Pittsburgh, Pa. On March 7, 1970, he married Marguerite "Peggy" Mavin who died December 5, 2007. Surviving are a daughter, Laura E. Marquis of Greensboro and her boyfriend, Cory Grandel; a brother, Ronald Marquis and his wife, Bonnie of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Faye Ellwood of Odenton, Md. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a son, Robert S. Marquis. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 30, 2010. The Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. will full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
