Charles S. "Lucky" Johnson, 86 of Carmichaels, Pa., formerly of Port Vue, Pa. died Sunday, September 19, 2010 in the Uniontown Hospital following a brief illness. He was born July 4, 1924 in Baldwin Township, Allegheny County, Pa. the son of the late Charles Robert and Margaret (Maund) Johnson. After high school he joined the US Navy during WW II, having served aboard the submarine USS Saury, battleship USS North Carolina and lastly the oiler USS Platte. Lucky enjoyed fighting in Golden Glove tournaments while in the Navy. After his discharge from the Navy he started working for Duquesne Light where he retired as a Foreman in 1986. He was a life time member of the American Legion Post 447 in Port Vue and currently Cumberland Post 400, he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #641 F. & A. M. McKeesport, Pa., Grand Strand Masonic Lodge #392 A. F. & A. M. of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lodge of Perfection, Pittsburgh Council Princes of Jerusalem, Pittsburgh Chapter of Rose Croix and Pennsylvania Consistory, Pittsburgh, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Al-O-Mon Forest # 138, White Oak, Pa. and former member of Syria Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Mr. Johnson loved golfing and was an avid storyteller. He and his wife Rose Marie "Ree" (Thomasell) Johnson, whom he married April 24, 1953, spent a lot of time at Apache Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC after his retirement. Lucky was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Charles S. "Chuck" Johnson and his wife Vicky of Alexandria, Va.; three daughters, Amy Mansfield and her husband Kenny of Port Vue, Pa., Bonnie Judy and her husband Rev. Bruce of Carmichaels and Dawn Boswell and her husband Rob of New Brighton, Pa.; ten grandchildren, Joey Mansfield, Kate Johnson, Cheri Hunt, Charles "Sly" Johnson, Justin Judy, Jacob Judy, Hannah Price, Caleb Judy, Zachariah Boswell and Phoebe Rose Boswell; two great grandchildren, Elijah and Jonathan Judy. Deceased is a sister Phoebe Gumbert. Family and friends are welcomed at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 the hour of a Memorial Service in St. Peter's Anglican Church, 60 Morgantown St., Uniontown, Pa. 15401 Arrangements are under the direction of Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 27106 New York, NY 10087-7106 or American Heart Association, 10 Duff Rd., Suite 304, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15235.
