George Mateleska, Jr. 89 of Bobtown, Pa., died at 10:45 P.M. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the home of his friend and caregiver, Lucy Brumley, of Greensboro, Pa. He was born October 1, 1921 in Crucible, Pa., a son of the late George and Mary Mateleska, Sr. Mr. Mateleska was a graduate of Point Marion High School and served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He resided in Bobtown most of his life and enjoyed fishing and dancing. Mr. Mateleska was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5567 of Bobtown and the United Mine Workers of America. On May 7, 1949, he married Pauline C. Beck, who died March 23, 1990. Surviving are a son, Michael D. Mateleska and his wife, Janice of Hewitt, Tex.; two grandchildren, Ashley Michelle Mateleska and Michael David Mateleska, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, George Edward Mateleska; two brothers, Steve and John and a sister, Sophie. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation George's caregivers, Rick, Corey and Jessica. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010. Pastor Fred W. Tomlinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Point Marion, Pa. with full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 3491 and 5567.
