Curtis E. Johnson, 92 of Spraggs, Pa. and formerly of Garards Fort, Pa, died at 3:40 A.M. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born April 27, 1918 in German Township, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Lindsey and Addie Pearl (McCann) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a 1936 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided in Greene County most of his life. He was raised in Greensboro, Pa. and resided in Garards Fort from 1975 until 1999, when he moved to Spraggs to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Patty Johnson. Mr. Johnson served in the U. S. Army in the European theater and received five battle stars. He attended Greensboro Baptist Church, Mapletown Methodist Church and Mount Calvary Methodist Church in Garards Fort. Mr. Johnson was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303, Greensboro and worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the United Carpenters of America Local 541 of Washington, Pa. since 1952. On September 20, 1941, he married Elinor Black, who died May 20, 2000. Surviving are his son, Roger C. Johnson and his wife, Patty of Spraggs; two daughters, Sandra K. Johnson and Susan J. Work, both of Greensburg, Pa.; a step-son, Douglas Black and his wife, Joann of Carmichaels, Pa.; five grandchildren, Joy Lynn Stouffer, Michael Wayne Work, Michelle W. Work, Patrick Curtis Johnson and Sara D. Johnson; three great grandchildren, Ryan Stouffer, Zachary Stouffer and Shaina Coe; a great great granddaughter, Chloe Coe and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Chester Johnson, Myers Johnson, Clifford Johnson and Cliffton Johnson and a sister, Elsie P. Masters. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 with Dr. William L. Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 6303 and 3491, Cumberland American Legion Post 3491 and the U. S. Army will accord military honors at the cemetery.
