Helen T. Bokat Yandura

Helen T. Bokat Yandura, 89 of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 6:15 P.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her home. She was born August 28, 1921 in Nemacolin, a daughter of the late Emery Bokat and Mary (Swancigar) Bokat Repko Cihon. Helen was a 1940 graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels and resided in Nemacolin most of her life. She was a member of the Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church of Nemacolin. After high school, Mrs. Yandura worked at the Francis Restaurant in Uniontown, Pa. and during World War II, worked assembling pistols at General Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pa. On October 8, 1945, she married Leon J. Yandura, who died August 7, 1960. After her children were mostly grown, she worked at the American Cancer Society in Waynesburg, Pa. Later, she worked as an aide at Greene ARC and then as a unit clerk at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg. She was last employed as a clerk at the Carmichaels Senior Center until her retirement. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson. Surviving are five children, Patricia Yandura Blumish and her husband, Mike, of Rices Landing, Pa., Rosemary Yandura of Morgantown, W. Va., Michael Yandura of Nemacolin, Pa., Mark Yandura and his wife, Verna, of Butler, Pa. and Teresa Yandura of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a step brother, William P. Cihon of Tucson, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, John Bokat and Steve Repko; seven sisters, Mary Bokat Bizub, Kathryn Bokat Terescik, Anna Bokat Varto, Mary Repko Garger, Margaret Bokat Bizub, Erma Repko Cormack and Dorothy Repko Udovich; four step brothers, Adam Cihon, who died in infancy, Joseph Cihon, John Cihon and Steve Cihon and five step sisters, Anna Cihon, who died in childhood, Margaret (Marge) Mrazek, Mary Hurtuk, Helen A. Longshore Nielson and Cecelia Yoskovich. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 11:15 A.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 12:00 Noon at the Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Nemacolin with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Crucible, Pa. A vigil service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church or to Amedisys Hospice, 2183 McClellandtown Road, Masontown, PA 15461.
