Charles L. Holupka

Charles L. Holupka, 92 of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Nemacolin, Pa., died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg. He was born September 29, 1918 in Crucible, Pa., a son of the late Michael and Mary (Babich) Holupka. Mr. Holupka was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels, Pa. and received his bachelors and masters degree in accounting from Penn State University. He resided in Nemacolin nearly all of his life and served with the U. S. Army with the 129th Division in Europe, attaining the rank of master sergeant. Mr. Holupka was a longtime accountant for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority in Jefferson, Pa. until his retirement. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Uniontown (Pa.) Post 47 and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan. Surviving are a sister, Margaret Day and her husband, Luther, of Carmichaels; four nephews, Robert Kocielek and his wife, Judy, of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Holupka and his wife, Kathy, of Prince William, Va., Charles E. Holupka and his wife, Julie, of Garden City, Mich. and William Kline and his wife, Karen, of Garden City, Mich.; three nieces, Cheryl R. Gallentine and her husband, William, of Carmichaels, Dianne Braeckevelt and her husband, Gary, of Northfield, Mich. and Jill Kopke and her husband, Norm, of Grindstone City, Mich. and several great nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Michael Holupka, John Holupka, George Holupka and William Holupka; a sister, Mary Kocielek and two nephews, Roger Day and Ronald Day. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. The Rev. Bruce R. Judy will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. with full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Cumberland American Legion Post 400, 205 E. George St., Carmichaels, PA 15320 or to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, 500 W. George St., Carmichaels, PA 15320.
