Pamela Penny Caruso

Pamela Mary "Penny" (Gallagher) Caruso, R.N., 61 of Carmichaels, Pa. died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She was born August 15, 1949 in Waynesburg, Pa. a daughter of Helen Irene (Sadlek) Gallagher of Fredericktown, Pa. and the late Joseph Thomas Gallagher. Penny was a 1967 graduate of Beth Center High School and also graduated as a registered nurse from the Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing in 1993. She started working at Monongalia General Hospital as a nurse in the Oncology Department and retired in 2008 as Director of Case Management. Penny was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church and was a well known lover of animals. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. On February 7, 1970 she married Michael M. Caruso. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters, Stacey R. Pocius and her husband, Tim, of Morgantown and Corey A. VanSickle and her husband, Scott, of Waynesburg; four grandsons, Jacob and Noah Pocius and Alexander and Connor VanSickle; two brothers, Bert Gallagher and his wife, Debbie, of Fort Mill, S.C. and Michael Gallagher and his wife, Marilyn, of Fredericktown. At the request of the deceased arrangements are private and under the direction of Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Rd., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
