Eugene F. Henderson

Eugene F. Henderson, 90 of Brooksville, Fla. and formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla., Newton Falls, Ohio and Davistown, Pa., died on Monday, July 18, 2011 in his home. He was born October 18, 1920 in Davistown, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Owen E. and Edna E. (Furman) Henderson. Mr. Henderson attended school in Davistown and graduated from Point Marion High School. He served with the rank of Staff Sergeant with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II with the 27th Mobile Reclamation and Repair Squadron. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Henderson was a member of the Mariner United Methodist Church, Spring Hill, Fla. He resided in Newton Falls for 28 years, West Palm Beach for 26 years and Brooksville for the past eight years. He served as Worshipful Master of Newton Falls Lodge #462, F. & A. M. and as secretary of that lodge for 14 years. Mr. Henderson was a member of American Legion Post 236 and the 40 & 8, both in Newton Falls. He retired on July 10, 1976 after 28 years at the Standard Steel Spring Division of Rockwell International. On September 6, 1946, he married his loving wife of 64 years, Verlene Lowry, who survives. Eugene and Verlene are survived by their children, Donald Henderson and his wife, Judy, of Spring Hill, Fla., Karen Bresnahan and her husband, Patrick, of Niles, Ohio, Glenn A. Henderson and his wife, Jane, of Point Pleasant Beach, N. J. and Rodney Lowry and his wife, Edith, of Brookville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a niece who was raised in the same household as Eugene and who was considered by him as a sister, Sara Yost and her husband, Gene, of Mount Morris, Pa. and several additional nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Keith O. Henderson, who died in 1993 and two brothers, Willis Henderson and Laverne Henderson. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa., where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2011. The Rev. Bruce R. Judy will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Davistown, with full military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd. Spring Hill, FL 34609.
