Gloria Katarsky

Gloria Katarsky, 68, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 3:45 P. M. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born March 18, 1943 in Gates (German Township), Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Victoria (Stemkovich) Smith. Mrs. Katarsky was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels where she served as the first grade CCD helper for 15 years. She worked as an administrative assistant and secretary at Steel Castings Industry in Ohio for 12 years and later worked as a substitute secretary at the Carmichaels Area School District. Mrs. Katarsky worked part time for the Lud Kopec Insurance Agency in Masontown, Pa. and for the Tom Stuvek Insurance Agency in Carmichaels. Since 1976, she was the bookkeeper for the family business, Ralph's Garage Doors, in Carmichaels. On June 29, 1970, she married Ralph F. Katarsky, who died June 21, 2001. Surviving are a son Brett Ralph Katarsky and his companion, Rebecca Johnston, of Carmichaels; a grandson, Elijah Johnston; two brothers, William Smith and his wife, Dee, of Stowe, Ohio and Thomas Smith and his wife, Rita, of Masontown, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Crevda of Willowick, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Robert Smith, Richard Smith and Leonard Smith and three sisters, Frances Vilk, Valeria Smith and Dorothy Stermock. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa., where a blessing service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, followed at 11:30 A. M. by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
